Setting up Email Forwarding on Cingular

NOTE: This page is for informational purposes only. Configuring your email in this way requires that you save your username and password on a server outside of Penn's control. Individual departments may have specific rules in place that prohibit this behavior. Please check with your school or center before encouraging this specific configuration.


  1. Connect to the internet and enter www.cingular.com/blackberry in your URL Address field.
  2. Click Create Your Account in the "Welcome to BlackBerry" screen
  3. At the prompt, enter you rPIN and ESN/IMEI. Click Submit
  4. Click I agree in the Terms and Conditions screen to proceed
  5. Enter your contact information in the Account Setup screen. If you fail to complete the mandatory fields, an error message will be displayed below each field that requires input
  6. Select a User ID and Password for your BlackBerry Web Client account. Your User ID will be your default email address (UserID@mycingular.blackberry.net). Once your account is created, you will receive a message that says, "Account Setup Complete!" Click Done to continue
  7. If you would like to set up email accounts to integrate with your BlackBerry account, select E-mail Accounts; otherwise, select Enter Now and you will be automatically logged in to your account
  8. If you select E-mail Accounts, you will be asked to provide information about the email account you wish to integrate with your BlackBerry account. If that email account is not supported by BlackBerry, you will receive an error message. Selecting Yes at the prompt will return you to the Account Setup screen. Selecting No will return you to your email account. When required, you will be prompted for additional information about the email account you wish to set up. (If you indicate that you wish to set up an account with an INternet Service Provider, you will be asked to provide:
    1. the E-mail Server and
    2. the Port Number (often the port number is 110. If you do not know your E-mail Server or your Port Number, please contact your INternet Service Provider. Please do NOT contact Cingular Wireless Customer service).
  9. Click Submit to continue
  10. After completing the setup of each email account, you will be presented with the E-mail Accounts screen, containing all the accounts you have integraed with your BlackBerry account. You can now set up additional accounts, modify existing accounts, and configure your "sent from" address. Once you have completed setting up your email accounts, you will be logged in to your account and presented with the Home page.
