PPS LSP Interface: LSP Access
From Provider Wiki
Important note: this is a preliminary DRAFT document and is currently under editing and revision. Information included may not have been tested and configuration and other information may be incorrect or incomplete.
What is LSP Access?
Just as every computer on Penn's campus has a designated support provider, so each PennNet Phone on campus also has a designated LSP who provides technical support to the user and device. When users log into the PPS interface, they will usually see only information for their own phone. But when an LSP logs into PPS, information is available for each PennNet Phone the LSP supports. The LSP is granted "admin" access over a user's PennNet Phone and can make changes to how the phone behaves, how voicemail is handled, how caller ID is displayed for calls from the phone, call forwarding, etc.
Below is a screenshot of a typical LSP Access screen.
Adding and Removing LSP Access
When a PennNet phone is deployed, the LSP who arranged the installation is generally designated as the default LSP, and will have admin access to the phone via the PPS interface. When additional LSPs need to be added (or deleted) for each phone, the LSP Access option is used.
- Log into the PPS interface (http://pps.voice.isc.upenn.edu)
- Select "LSP Access" from either the left-hand blue navagation bar or the main window
- Select the desired phone number from the dropdown list
- To add additional LSPs for the selected phone, enter the PennKey of the desired LSP and click "Add PennKey"
- To remove an LSP for the selected phone, select the LSP's PennKey from the dropdown list and click "Remove PennKey"
- To change the Primary LSP for the selected phone, enter the PennKey of the desired LSP and click "Change"
Granting LSP Access for a PennNet Phone is the equivalent of granting admin access for a PC, and should be
granted with care.
