Setting Up Versamail

Note: These instructions are for the Versamail client on the handheld itself. There is a Versamail conduit for Windows that resides in the Hotsync manager. This conduit does not support SSL connections, and as such will not work after 9/12/2006 when connecting to pobox.upenn.edu (or any of its aliases).

Secure Versamail IMAP Configuration for Pobox

1. Open Versamail
2. Go to menu-->Accounts-->Account Setup
3. In the Account Setup screen click New
4. Choose an Account name. In the Mail Service drop-down menu, pick Other
5. For Protocol, choose IMAP
6. Enter your Username and Password in the appropriate fields
7. Fill in the fields in the following screen as appropriate:
   • Email address = your email addres
   • Incoming Mail Server = pobox.upenn.edu
   • Outgoing Mail Server = smtp.pobox.upenn.edu
8. When you get to the screen that indicateds Basic Setup is complete, click on Advanced
9. For Incoming Server Settings, use port number 993
10. Check Use Secure Connection (SSL)
11. Click Next
12. For Outgoing Server Settings, leave the port number as the default 25
13. Check Use Secure Connection.
14. Click Done
