University-Centric Mac OS 10.5 Compatibility

The following is an alphabetical list of Mac OS applications in use at the University and their compatibility status with Apple's new Mac OS 10.5 Leopard operating system. In most cases, only the latest versions of the applications have been listed, though recent versions are listed if they require a paid upgrade.

All testing is as of March 2008 with Mac OS 10.5.2.

  • Active Directory connections - compatible, may require re-configuration
  • Adium X 1.2 - compatible

Adobe - see Bridge, Dreamweaver, Flash Player, Photoshop, Reader

 Adobe will not be releasing updates for software versions older than CS3. Applications in the CS2 Suite and older 
 may work, but there may be some issues and they will not be addressed.
  • AOL client for Mac OS X - compatible
  • AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) 4.7 - compatible (note that AIM has not been updated for almost 4 years)

  • Eudora 6.2.5 - somewhat compatible. Kerberos authentication does not function (SSL/TLS authentication does work).

  • Photoshop CS3 - compatible
  • Photoshop CS2 - mostly compatible. Adobe will not be releasing updates for software versions older than CS3. Applications in the CS2 Suite and older may work, but there may be some issues and they will not be addressed.
  • Printer drivers are now installed differently. There appear to be some incompatibilities with certain vendor driver installers. Leopard is supposed to detect your printers and then use Software Update to download the latest drivers. On a network printer, you will need to choose the printer in System Preferences:Print & Fax for Software Update to "see" the new drivers. USB connected printers should show up in the Software Update soon after connecting them.
