Using the IBM/Lenovo Software Update
From Provider Wiki
Benefits of Using ThinkVantage System Update
ThinkVantage System Update (in version 3.0 as of May 2007) is an extremely useful and time-saving software application which aids in updating the Lenovo and IBM middleware that ships with ThinkPad laptops and ThinkCentre desktops that use Microsoft Windows.
Unfortunately, System Update (often abbreviated TVSU) is rarely used at the University, mostly because Local Support Providers are unaware of its existence and purpose.
Why use System Update? Because it allows you to update all your Lenovo and IBM middleware (such as Access Connections, Rescue and Recovery, etc.) and drivers in (usually) one process with one reboot, bringing applications and drivers up-to-date.
How to Access ThinkVantage System Update
- System Update is reached on ThinkPads by pressing the blue ThinkVantage button.
- For older ThinkPads, this is a blue Access IBM button.
- System Update can be reached on ThinkCentres and ThinkPads by pressing Start, All Programs, ThinkVantage, System Update
- This process may vary slightly on older machines.
